Allison Quattrocchi, Attorney Allison is one of the pioneers in the field of divorce mediation. She founded the Family Mediation Center in 1981 and, as an attorney, has specialized in mediation since that time. She was trained by Dr. John Haynes, a world recognized trainer who wrote the first book on divorce mediation. For many years, Allison also practiced family law. Some of Allison's many contributions to the profession are as follows: (1) Executive Member of the American Bar Association's Committee that developed the first set of Standards of Practice for Attorney Mediators; (2) Chair of the Committee on Domestic Relations for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Task Force for the Supreme Court's Commission on the Courts; (3) Co-Founder, Past President (4 times) and Past Board Member (almost forever) of the Maricopa County Association of Family Mediators; (4) Past Board Member of ADRA (Arizona Dispute Resolution Association) and past chair of the Credentialing Committee for Family Mediators; (5) Practitioner and Consultant member of the national Association for Conflict Resolution. Allison has published several short books on different divorce-related topics, having authored four and co-authored four of these books. Allison is once again practicing law as well as mediation and will provide Cooperative RepresentationTM services to her legal clients. She has coined this phrase to honor her philosophy that families who are facing the trauma of divorce are better served by attorneys who can bring a caring and cooperative attitude to the resolution of these issues whether parties choose mediation or the traditional legal process. See our tab "Other Services" for more information. Joy Borum, Attorney Joy, another mediation leader, first mediated 28 years ago for the Wisconsin court system. Though for many years she practiced Arizona family and juvenile law and mediation, she now devotes her practice to mediation and Collaborative Practice. (1) Joy, a founding member, former Ethics Chair and President of the Maricopa County Association of Family Mediators, was a Judge Pro Tempore and Parenting Coordinator for Maricopa Superior Court. She is on the Court Family Mediation Roster. She was a member of the Superior Court's Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mediator Criteria, and Family Advisory Committees, and (2) former Chair of the State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section and on its Executive Board. (3) Joy chaired committees that drafted mediator curriculum plus mediator credentialing criteria. (4) She co-designed a mediation course for the University of Phoenix, has taught advanced family mediation, and delivers continuing education courses. (5) Joy, an Advanced Practitioner Member of the Academy of Family Mediators and a member of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, has an honors psychology degree plus extensive training working with couples, families, businesses and non-profit organizations. Joy is a former Panel Chair, Arizona Town Hall, former Vice-president, Faith Counseling Center, and President of Partners for Paiute. Joy has helped thousands of clients clarify their situations and understand their possibilities. She deeply believes most people - given sufficient information and time, working with a strong mediator in a reassuring environment - can work through their disputes and build their own agreements.
